If your Philips Steam Iron stopped producing steam, please read our troubleshooting advice below to solve this.
There is no water in the water tankIf there is no water in the water tank of your Philips Steam Iron, your iron is not able to generate steam. Please refill the water tank with water. After this, your iron should work again.
The iron is not ready to steamIn this case, wait until the orange ‘temperature indicator’ light switches off, then your iron is ready to produce steam.
Note: For the irons with OptimalTemp, the iron ready light will stay on when the iron is ready to produce steam.
The steam setting is set to “steam off”If you have a Philips Steam Iron with a temperature dial, always make sure that the temperature dial is at the 2-dot, 3-dot or the LINEN position. Your Philips Iron does not produce steam when the temperature dial is at the 1-dot position, the SYNTH setting or in Calc-Clean. Tilt your iron up and select the steam setting with the steam slider on top of the handle.
If your Philips Steam Iron is producing smoke, there can be several reasons. Please find out how we can help you.
First few times the iron is usedDuring production, some parts of your Philips Steam Iron have been slightly greased.
As a result of this, your iron may produce some smoke when it is switched on for the first few times.
Do not worry, this is normal.
Water in the soleplateSometimes, there might still be some remaining water in your iron’s soleplate after the last usage. This water will evaporate when your iron’s soleplate heats up, and that might look like smoke.
This is normal and will stop after a short while.
Using the right type of water helps prolong your Philips garment steamer or steam iron's lifespan. Please read along to find some tips and tricks.
